Jeweler Calls Her $130 Engagement Ring ‘Pathetic’ – Young Woman’s Response Goes Viral.
Buying an engagement ring is a big move by a man. “What if she doesn’t like it?” “Can I afford this?” “Is it big enough?” And if the woman accepts his proposal of marriage with the ring, she’s accepting for more than just a ring – she’s accepting his heart and his life. But for some reason in today’s world, women are often being shamed by their engagement rings unless they are big and cost thousands and thousands of dollars.
Like Ariel McRae. Her fiance, Quinn, bought her an engagement ring/wedding band set that had an unusual design to it. But they were beautiful nonetheless, and Ariel’s heart swelled when he gave them to her. She actually was with Quinn at the Pandora Jewelry Store. Quinn had worked hard to scrape up enough money to buy Ariel the rings.
As he was buying them, another female worker behind the counter walked up to the woman selling them the rings and said, “Can you believe that some men get these as engagement rings? How pathetic.” Well, that comment deeply hurt Quinn, as his face fell toward the floor. He felt like a failure. He was upset that he could not afford anything more for his fiance.
So Ariel shot back at the woman, saying “It isn’t the ring that matters. It is the love that goes into buying one that does.” She added, “I would have gotten married to this man if it had been a 25-cent gum-ball machine ring. When did our nation fall so far to think the only way a man can truly love a woman is if he buys her $3,000 jewelry and make a public decree of his affection with said flashy ring?”
For the record, Ariel’s ring set cost $130. And she wouldn’t take a million dollars to give them up. Because she knows there is no amount of money that can replace the true love that came with them.
