You Won’t Believe Why These Police Dogs’ Faces Are Painted
These police dogs were brought out for an unusual celebration, that you may not even have known existed, but you will wish you were a part of.
Tihar is a five day festival celebrated in Nepal, very similar to Deepawali. It is also known as the festival of lights, and it celebrates the lives of animals that live closely to the humans.
The second day, Kukur Tihar, is reserved for man’s best friend, the dog. In this day, these Nepalese police are reverent and kind to their friends and comrades, who have helped them save the lives of other people. As you can see, after a brief presentation, the dogs are fed treats, painted tilaka on their faces, and given garlands of flowers to wear. It is a good time for the dogs, and if you are a dog lover, you would enjoy being there too.
As you can see, this video comes from this year’s Kukur Tihar celebrations. Enjoy and keep your eyes out for Kukur Tihar next year.
