10 Things Every NEW Mom Should Know. #3 Is A True Life Saver!

Being a mom is one of the most difficult jobs in the world and being a new mom can be even tougher. You just got thrown into the adult end of the pool, and you aren’t sure if you can tread water yet, and that’s okay. Hang in there, mama…we’ve got ten unique baby products that will help ease your pain and make you a super mom.

#10 Ubbi Diaper Pail

My Ubbi is right in the family room where my son’s changing table is. It’s been there for 9 months and it’s fantastic. It’s made of powder-coated steel to achieve maximum odor control…the only time I ever smell anything is for a half a second when you slide open the little lid to add a diaper or when you change the diaper trash bag. The Ubbi is more expensive to start with, but it uses regular trash bags or reusable cloth so that will be cheaper in the end. I thought it was a little ridiculous to spend so much on a trash can, but 9 months in and I still love it! It was totally worth it! Every couple of bag changes I spray disinfectant cleaner in there and wipe it with a paper towel. Keeps it smelling fresh! Oh yea, it can hold a lot of diapers and has a childproof lock.

#9 Table Toppers

First off I needed something hygienic to feed my 9-month old son on at restaurants, I never liked the idea of our son eating off the table at restaurants. I tried using sanitizing wipes on the table itself and yuk, even the best looking restaurant tables would turn the wipes black (…gross). These table toppers are great because I can just attach them to the table and I don’t feel like my son is eating off of what could be a dirty table. What they are is basically a self-stick plastic printed (sesame street) placemat. It’s also great because I can just scoop these up and wrap up his mess, so I don’t feel like I’m leaving a mess on the table for the server to clean up. Definitely worth it.

#8 Puppy Pads

Get a box from Amazon and use em on your changing table, pop a few in the diaper bag, etc. Saves you changing sheets and keeps number ones and twos contained. Even when you are quick to change a diaper, things can get very messy very quickly!! It’s less expensive and disposable in case accidents happen or baby has an explosive diaper

#7 Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper

My sister’s newborn would start screaming as soon as she laid her down in the bassinet but loved sleeping in the rock’n’play, and even at 3 months she still likes napping in it. It collapses easily and is very light – portable for short trips or even just moving from one room of the house to another. This is definitely a great cheaper alternative to the mamaRoo

4moms mamaRoo

My son loved the mamroo in his early months. This rocker mimics human movements for your baby and is ideal for when you have to finish cooking, put away the dishes or do any of the things parents do while juggling a baby. You can easily adjust and lock the exact angle of the cradle as well.
If your baby loves it, then yes, it will be worth every penny even if you paid for it new. The price is harder to swallow when you realize that your baby might be meh about it at best and it’s only useful for a short time. If you feel the money would be better spent elsewhere – don’t feel bad about not buying it.

#6 Snot Sucker

I know what you’re thinking…It’s gross and seems weird. It’s not at all as bad as you think. It might sound yucky but is hands down one of the best inventions for babies ever.

Pro tip: If your thin tube becomes loose over time, you can just cut up a little and it would fit fine.

#5 Puddle Pads

Love these! I had some before that had a thicker plastic coating on the back, but after washing them, the edges kept curling up and it was super annoying. These are much bigger and stay flat. The bigger size allows for more versatility too, like naked tummy time! If I needed more, I would order these again.

#4 Lullaby Bosom Nursing

After trying another brand of nursing pillow that was super soft, a friend suggested the Luna Lullaby. It is much firmer than others that we have tried and is better for an older baby. The fact I can take the case off to wash it is a large plus as well. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to nurse or even bottle feeding. My husband would use this from time to time to give our son a bottle if I wasn’t here.

#3 Boppy Lounger

My son has outgrown this but it was definitely a lifesaver for the first four months. It was so nice for him to be involved with us during the day sitting in this lounger. Super soft, comfy, and snug. The handle is nice to have to tote it around.

#2 Baby Shusher

When I first saw this shusher I thought – that is silly, paying that much for a little Shhhhh. But when I used it, this is now my go-to baby gift. It truly was magic for my son. If he is crying or having difficulty going to sleep, we turn this on, and he is soothed in less than a minute. I like that it runs for a little bit, then shuts itself off. And, you can adjust the volume to the environment and need.

#1 Muslin Swaddle Blankets

They are the perfect light blanket. Great to cover while feeding, throw over the car seat or stroller, and even swaddle. If you don’t already have Muslin blankets and you are expecting or have a small baby then please buy these or one similar for your little one. You’ll be so glad you did. They are lightweight, soft and absorbent.
