Barbra Streisand Always Accepted Her Gay Son For ‘What He Is’ — Grown Up He Looks Just Like Her.

Even before her baby was born, the EGOT Award recipient chose her son before her profession. In 1966, the American singer was scheduled to play in 20 different cities on a concert tour worth more than $1 million. The sum was considered a significant amount of money at the time.

That same year, though, Streisand learned she was carrying her first child. As a result, she canceled the gigs, losing the money she would have made.

Allison J. Waldman, author of “The Barbra Streisand Scrapbook,” wrote that Streisand’s choice to scale back her concerts created quite a stir at the time.

Despite the attention, the expecting mom was unfazed by her inability to perform and maintained that she had made the correct decision.

Streisand and her first husband, Elliot Gould, had their only child, Jason Gould, in 1966. However, the couple’s marriage was in shambles.

Elliot and Streisand divorced three years after the birth of their son; by 1971, the couple was formally divorced. Despite his parents’ divorce, Jason has maintained positive ties with both of them throughout the years. His parents are overjoyed with how wonderfully he has turned out.

Streisand gushed over her only kid in 1999, praising his character and skills and said that having him in her life is a blessing.

When she acknowledged that her kid was gay, the mom of one demonstrated how much she loved him. Jason came out to his parents in 1988, and in January 2001, when questioned if he had always known, he revealed his sexuality.

When questioned if he could understand his emotions at the moment, the New York native said he felt a great connection and desired to be touched. At the same time, he didn’t want to be the one to start things.

Jason stated that growing up understanding his sexuality caused him to isolate himself.

When questioned when he finally accepted being homosexual, Jason stated that it was not a spur-of-the-moment experience since he was also attracted to the opposing sex. His first sexual experience occurred when he was sixteen years old.

When questioned when he told his parents, the actor stated he did so when he was 21 years old. Jason, on the other hand, did not notify his mother and father at the same time as they were divorced and living different lives.

Still, his dad Elliot had an important part in his life, but his mother performed the majority of the effort in raising him, he stated. Jason has spent his entire life with his mom.

When questioned how she responded to his homosexuality, he claimed he told her he was unsure about his sexual inclination, but he thought she “already” knew of it.

Elliot was completely unaware of what was going on. Jason said that he was taken aback by the revelation, which he attributed to his traditional worldview.

Since his coming out, his mom has taken the lead to advocate for the LGBTQ community. Jason stated that, aside from his openness about his sexuality, his mother has always advocated for equal rights.

Likewise, Jason’s dad opened up about his warm connection with his son’s mother in September 2017. Elliot mentioned that his ex-wife was still a big part of his life.

Streisand had already remarried Emmy Award-winning actor James Brolin at the time. Furthermore, he honored her as she celebrated her 75th birthday.

Furthermore, the previous couple’s youngster is a carbon copy of his mom. Jason will turn 55 on December 29, 2020, and his mother paid homage to him on Instagram.

The pleased mom uploaded two throwback images of her and little Jason, one of which showed her cuddling up to him while they grinned and leaned on one another.

Fans commented on Streisand’s post, wishing Jason well and noticing the strong likeness between him and his mom.

Jason not only appears like his mother, but he also continues in her musical footsteps. He addressed his singing ambitions in December 2017, ahead of the release of his debut full-length album, “Dangerous Man.”

When asked if he composed his own songs, Jason said yes, and that it all started when he was a toddler who experimented with a musical instrument.

Then, while attending a Marianna Williamson lecture, Jason met musical artist Marsha Malamet, who wanted to listen to his song ideas, he stated. That meeting resulted in the introduction of Alan Roy Scott, with whom he worked on tracks for his album.

Jason needed to use his skill as a performer after that incident. He had to learn to perform in front of large crowds – “18,000” to be exact.

That happened during his mother’s trip, and he claimed it required a lot of prayer to accomplish since he couldn’t predict the outcome. Everything worked out in the end, and Streisand was extremely helpful and encouraging to her kid.
