Boy in Critical Condition after Being Hit in a Crosswalk on His Way to School: ‘We Are Trusting God’

Angela and Matt Veith raised their beautiful family in Wichita, Kansas. They had six wonderful kids who were the focus of their existence. There was never a boring time in the Veith home, and they made the most of every opportunity.

The couple’s life was picture-perfect, and they never passed up an opportunity to enjoy their joyful family. Angela frequently posted wonderful peeks of her family life on social media, where she and Matt were seen having a fantastic time with their children and loved ones.

The Veiths wanted to greet each new day as a family, completely unaware of what destiny had in mind for them. Nathan Veith, one of their boys, awoke on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, eager to get to school, see his instructors, and spend time with his friends.

Nathan was a fifth-grade student at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, where he was well-liked by both classmates and staff. No one could have predicted what would happen in the following few minutes as the boy happily dressed and bid farewell to his parents.

The Veiths say their darling son was hit at a crossing while riding his bike to school by an eastbound automobile. The event happened at 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday in Central between Tyler and Ridge roads, according to Lt. Joseph Kennedy.

Angela stated that the vehicle who struck her kid failed to notice him or the red light. As an outcome, she claims her son sustained significant brain injuries and is presently in the intensive care unit in serious but stable condition. Jack Farmer, an eyewitness, stated he was on the site when the disaster happened.

He claimed he got out of his car and raced over to assist the youngster, beside a nurse who dialed 911. Nathan was taken to the closest hospital immediately.

Farmer expressed his optimism that the child was okay and wished him a quick recovery. The driver of the Ford Fusion that hit Nathan’s bike was in his 40s, per the Wichita Police Department, and he seemed uninjured throughout the collision.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified publicly, believes the sunlight may have had a role in the sad situation.

Many neighbors expressed worry about how dangerous the crossing may be. Amanda Hageman, a mom of five, claimed she wished her kids to ride the bus to school because of the busy crosswalk, however the school stated she couldn’t because she lived close.

While Hageman could drive her five kids to school, she felt sorry for the parents who couldn’t. She further stated, the fact is that they have to send their children to school when they are unable to do so, praying to God that others are paying attention to the roads that their children are on.

Another neighbor, Robert Patallas, claimed he and his wife relocated to the neighborhood in 2015 and went for walks on a daily basis. However, after nearly being hit by a car with his wife and dog, he and his family avoid crossing the Central.

Members of the neighborhood expressed a need for more buses for kids, a stoplight, and crossing guards. Angela posted a poignant Facebook post with a photo of her darling kid clutching a dinosaur on Thursday, September 22.

Nathan’s younger brother, according to Matt, brought his own toy dinosaur to keep him company while he was recovering in the hospital. He and Angela also expressed gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and people of the community for their assistance, affection, and encouragement.

A Meal Train has been set up for anybody who wants to assist the Veiths. As of September 23, over 10,400 dollars has been raised, exceeding the $1,000 objective.

Angela thanked all who assisted her family financially and emotionally throughout their tough period. She also requested that individuals remember her 11-year-old son and pray for his speedy recovery. In addition, the mother wrote: They are putting their faith in God to guide them through these trying times. They have faith in God that Nate will recover from this. They have faith in God.

Many people on the internet sent Nathan encouraging and heartfelt notes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Veith family, and we trust that their adorable kid heals quickly so that he may return home to his family and play with his wonderful brothers. Please remember this young boy in your prayers. Nathan, may God cure you.
