Boy Invites His Entire Class To Court On The Adoption Day.

Adoptions are a pretty darn big deal. So it’s really no wonder that you would want everyone you knew to be a part of it.

In Michigan, a little 5-year-old boy, known only as Michael, invited his entire kindergarten class. You could say he was very proud. At Kent County Court, Michael became part of his forever family. Sitting in an adult chair, the young boy relaxed as the proceedings commenced, while all of his classmates and their families sat behind him, waving stick-held paper hearts with special messages on them. And some of them even got to testify to Judge Patricia Gardner about their friendship with Michael.

Little Steven said: “Michael is my best friend.”

A little girl told the judge: “My name is Lily and I love Michael.”

And Michael’s teacher made a statement to the judge: “We began the school year as a family. Family doesn’t have to be DNA, because family is support and love.”

Everyone in the courtroom clapped and cheered when the judge banged her gavel, completing the adoption process. Michael was just one of 37 children that day who went before Judge Gardner to be officially placed with a family during the court’s annual Adoption Day.

Says the judge: “Sometimes their journeys have been very long. They’ve included miracle and change for the children and family, and incredible community support – as you’re able to see today in Michael’s adoption hearing. His whole kindergarten class and school being here to say ‘we love you,’ and ‘we support you’ and ‘we’ll be here not only today, but in all the years in the future.'”

The photo of Michael being adopted with all of his classmates behind him has been shared on Facebook more than 100,000 times.
