Busload Canadian Veterans Gets A Treat By An American Trucker.

Last September 11, a group of veterans from a care facility were enjoying a night out at Robbie’s Spaghetti House in Ottawa.

American trucker John Meiring, of Ohio, had stopped off there for dinner as well, and he noticed the group. They were kinda hard to miss, as their bus outside had “Vets on Wheels” on it.

So he approached their table and offered to pay for every one of their meals. They were shocked by his kind gesture. Then John explained that his son was currently serving in Afghanistan, and he wanted to show his appreciation to all the veterans there.

Says John: “It put a smile on everybody’s face. It’s going to be one of my greatest memories of my life. It warmed my heart immensely that I could do this for them. A lot have made the ultimate sacrifice and never came home. I want people to think about that.”

Robyn Orazietti, a worker with the care facility, said: “I think every outing we go on, we’ll always be thinking about our night at Robbie’s and a truck driver from Ohio.”
