Cop Adopts The Child Whose Case He Was Investigating.

Police officer Jody Thompson was just pulling into the Poteau Police Department in Oklahoma for his shift when a call came out on a child abuse case.

Jody was one of the first officers there, and what he witnessed… well, no one should have to see such a thing. He found an 8-year-old boy bound with rope to his hands and feet. The boy had been submerged in a trash can and forced into a shower. He was starving, and he was covered in bruises.

Jody quickly got him to a local hospital and stayed by his side in the intensive care unit. Then, he and his wife adopted him. In a short time, the youngster fully recovered, and became a straight A student. He also was put in the gifted and talented program at his school.

Says Jody: “He means everything in the world that we live in. He’s the strongest person I’ve ever met. He means the world.”

During the young boy’s adoption process, Jody and his wife learned that his biological mother had given birth to a baby girl while she was in jail. The couple immediately started the adoption process to get her… and they did.

Says Poteau Police Chief Stephen Fruen: “All of us can sit back and say we would do the same in that situation, but to come through with it and to do that, that’s a measure of a man – and a very good police officer.”
