Daughter Posts About Her Mother’s Reaction When She Asked Her To Get Eggs.

Story by Danielle Sherman-Lazar

This carton of eggs is a mother’s love.

Let me explain. I went to make my two-year-old scrambled eggs yesterday morning and realized we were out of eggs. I made her something else instead but put it on my list as a must-pick-up later item. My littlest loves her eggs.

I took my three girls to the park, and on the way back, when I was going to stop at the store, it started to pour. As the cold droplets hit my front window, I decided to call my mom, who was coming over later anyway, to see if she had eggs instead of dragging everyone out in the rain. “Of course, I’ll check,” she said. And that was that.

When she came over for dinner, she handed me the carton of eggs in a plastic bag. “Thank you so much. I’m glad you had these,” I said, placing the carton on the counter. “Oh, I didn’t. I went to the store and bought them for you.” “Omg, you didn’t have to do that. That was so unnecessary. We could have gone tomorrow.” “Yes, I did. I couldn’t bear to think all of my babies didn’t have what they needed.”

And that’s a mother’s love. It goes above and beyond and shows unconditional love. And a mother always takes care of her babies, even when she’s 34 years old, and a mother, too.

A mother never stops worrying about her children. My mother has said that now that I have kids, she has more people to worry about, but her heart has never been so full of love.

Sometimes, she shows that love by helping us with struggles that feel impossible to overcome, and other times she shows it by going out of her way and buying our family a carton of eggs.

And both instances mean the entire world.
