Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson did not miss out the opportunity, when he could sincerely project himself as a Real Hero. He acted quickly & displayed his nobility by taking care of a widowed father-of-two kids. This happened with this 48 year old retired wrestler, when he got connected with Jay Abel.
Yes! Both met virtually. Jay Abel was keen on buying some special Christmas gifts for his kids whose mother was not there. All this happened during a virtual appearance on John Krasinski’s YouTube series, Some Good News.
Krasinksi came to know that Abel was turning to eBay to sell some of his prized possessions to provide for his eight year old daughter Elisa and 11 year old son AJ and then the Office favorite stepped in.
Abel when asked expressed his woes to Krasinski, 41. He told him that he wasn’t able to find a part-time job during the COVID-19 pandemic, since the A Quiet Place director called him ‘super dad stuff.’
‘Your story is my favorite of the holiday season,’ the Jack Ryan actor said, before opening up to the viewers how he tried to purchase all of Abel’s items off of eBay.
It so happened Abel viewed Krasinski’s newly-created accounts. However, upon viewing Krasinski’s newly-created accounts bidding on all his comic book memorabilia, Abel admitted to thinking the usernames were fraudulent.
In a written communication between Krasinski and Abel, the single dad although was pining to make his kids happy by gifting them something special for Christmas said he didn’t ‘feel comfortable with the sales’ and passed on Krasinski’s attempted purchases.
‘Hope you understand and good luck in the future,’ he said to the star.
Incidentally around the same time, Abel had ardently requested that the Ballers actor retweet his eBay page, in order to boost sales.
It so happened, as a surprise on Krasinski’s holiday-themed segment, Johnson entered their chat wearing a head-to-toe Santa Claus suit with a hat, which read: ‘Dwanta.’
Johnson in Santa’s attire attentively listened to Abel’s story. He said thoughtfully that he would be handling Abel’s kids’ Christmas lists.
‘Here’s what I want you to do. Take all of your stuff off of eBay because Dwanta Claus is going to take care of all of that stuff, man,’ the actor said.
In addition Johnson sent a valued invite. He rewarded Abel for being such a precious father by inviting him along with his family to the set of Black Adam post-COVID-19.
‘You deserve it all, man. Your story is an inspiration. You are an inspiration,’ Johnson told Abel with a large grin on his face.
Continuing his conversation he said, ‘You are what the holidays are all about. You embody the spirit. And I feel very confident, I can speak for my friend John here in that, you know, the true measure of a man and true measure of a human being truly is always what’s in their heart.’
Johnson’s noble actions arrive as Abel gets ready to host his third Christmas after the tragic demise of his wife.
The holiday magic was further extended. Johnson said that he and Krasinski made a $5 million donation to Toys for Tots in Abel’s name, with the help of FedEx.
