David Douglas is a big, big guy. At 6-foot-tall and 330 pounds, he’s pretty intimidating. And the powerlifter, known as “The Beast,” sure has some muscles.
But a while back, he met Lindsay. Lindsay is a tiny little 12-year-old girl with a rare disease that causes her to appear to age rapidly. And now, David, that beast of a man, has a very special relationship with Lindsay.
Says David: “Everytime I look at this picture of me and little Lindsay meeting for the first time, a rush of emotions come back. This little girl changed my life in so many ways. Today is her birthday and I want to wish the biggest, most deserving birthday to this inspiring, beautiful little girl.”
David said the youngster became his little sis the very first day he met her, and that it’s hard to describe the feelings he has for her.
Says David: “She has pulled me out of rough spots just by thinking of her. That is a priceless gift. That is why I made it my duty to help her out in any way that I can.”
One day, David knew he was going to be with his little sis, so he had a very special shirt made. On the back of it, it said “Strong” in big letters. At the bottom of the shirt, it read: “Stronger,” with an arrow pointing to the right of him, where Lindsay was walking alongside him. That photo went viral quickly.
Says David: “People looked at me as strong when everything about her was stronger. Instead of putting those words off to the side, I decided to put it right on me to make the point even louder. You have to look at the big picture of it. Let it soak in… Her heart, personality, and smile pours from her and touches everyone around her.”
