Firefighter Leaves In Middle Of His Own Wedding To Fight Nearby Fire.

On Jeremy and Krista’s recent wedding day in Minnesota, the groom left right in the middle of the photo-taking right after the ceremony. Now, why would he be so cold as to do that? Turns out, Jeremy wasn’t cold… something ELSE was hot… on fire, as a matter of fact. And Jeremy was a firefighter.

Says Krista: “We talked about it, ‘What if there’s a call? I was like, ‘You can let the other guys go. You’re not leaving our wedding.’”

Their Sept. 1 ceremony inside Jeremy’s fire station went off without any hitches. They had said their vows and were officially husband and wife. But soon after the wedding photographer started taking the normal couple and family photos following the ceremony.

They had just started taking photos with the entire wedding party when the alarm went off for a house fire in a nearby town. Jeremy at first ignored it. Then, a second alarm went off, and the dispatcher indicated it was urgent that all nearby firefighters respond. Jeremy looked at his bride, who was intent on finishing the photo shoot.

Says Krista: “I just looked over at Jeremy and I could just see it in his eyes. He felt so torn. And I said, ‘Go ahead and go, babe. They need you.’”

And off he went. The Wedding photographer said it was “unconditional, unselfish love, not only for each other but for both of them, for their community and for what’s right.”

Krista said she could sacrifice her husband for a few hours on their wedding day because there was a family losing their home.

She said “I’ve got the rest of my life with him. They needed him for that moment.”

After Jeremy left, Krista led a prayer for the firefighters and the family losing its home. A few hours later, Jeremy was back at the reception, dancing with his new bride.
