Gay Couple Adopts Boy Rejected By Many Families Over The Christmas Holidays: ‘Most Sacred Gift’

Steve and Kris Vella Grima had no idea what the cosmos had in store for them. They were ardent believers in the institutions of love and family, but even they couldn’t have predicted how perfectly everything would fall into place, filling their lives with eternal happiness and appreciation.

It all started when they saw a baby boy who captured their hearts so completely that they felt taking him home was their one and only genuine calling. The duo’s path had been anything but simple from the start, yet something about that baby motivated them to keep fighting.

Ben was the child’s name, and he had had a difficult life. He had a difficult existence, from being abandoned by his birth parents to feeling unloved by multiple adoptive families who were hesitant to take him in.

Ben was too young to grasp the absence of love and acceptance he was normally met with, but destiny had other plans for him. When Steve and Kris first saw him in 2015, he was just a newborn, and they couldn’t help but fall in love with his sweetness and purity.

Little Ben had Down Syndrome and a golden heart, and his large, bright eyes were filled with desire for a permanent home and a loving family. Luckily, he discovered both when he met the Grimas, and his life altered dramatically as a result. What happened next was predictable.

Steve and Kris defied prejudices and created a new milestone in 2016 when they became Malta’s first homosexual couple to adopt a kid. Ben now had a secure and safe family environment with two loving dads who shared their joys and affection equally.

Kris said of their adorable son, they thank God that he gave them Ben. When things grew stressful, the Grimas claimed they had a strong network of family and friends on whom they could rely. Moreover, Steve stated that Ben instilled a strong feeling of purpose and belonging in their lives.

Ben was spoiled by his grandparents, Steve and Kris’ parents, who loved being around him and lavished him with hugs and kisses, in addition to his adoring fathers. But that wasn’t the end of it.

The cute child got his own room, which was filled with an interesting assortment of amusing and instructive items, such as books and toys. His days were never dull or boring, and he was always learning something new.

Steve and Kris, like many other couples, were on the waiting list to adopt a child, and somewhere deep inside, they were tired of the delays and lack of responses. Ben, unbeknownst to them, was the missing piece in their family’s puzzle—the angel who brought enchantment into their world.

The Malta couple’s unshakable devotion and love for their kid became an uplifting narrative, and many saw them as role models for accepting and enjoying the beauty of difference. Following that, in 2018, the couple fostered another kid, a lovely two-year-old daughter.

Steve and Kris encountered numerous challenges as a homosexual couple, which only deepened their love and helped them become the greatest versions of themselves. Kris related that they went through hell; they were compelled to live in the shadows, to be invisible and to feel shamed.

Despite the difficulties, the Malta residents expressed gratitude for their lovely family and stated that they would not give it for anything. Little Ben had optimism for a better and brighter life after joining the Grimas, as well as a healthy atmosphere favorable to his physical and emotional well-being.

Ben’s first Christmas with his new family in 2015 was a fantastic occasion, complete with a massive Christmas tree to decorate, gifts, happiness, and an endless supply of love.

On December 31, the Grimas wrote an emotional Facebook post thanking God for blessing them with Ben.

Steve and Kris went on to say that embracing young Ben led them to a type of love that they could only sense but couldn’t completely express. Regardless of the criticism and suspicion, the Malta dads have always sworn to love, encourage, and protect their son, as well as to teach him the same.
