Have you ever had a partner who said “Either that animal goes or I go?” Wow! That’s an ultimatum you really just don’t want to hear. But it happens, and it probably happens a lot more than you are aware of. If you’re partner hit you with that, what would you do?
In Roanoke, Virginia, a guy… we’ll call him Chad… well, Chad’s girlfriend… we’ll call her Denise… told Chad that she no longer wanted Chad to have his beagle around… a beagle he had had for quite some time.
It was either her or Molly, Chad’s beagle. Well, this put Chad into a real tailspin. What was he going to do? It was awful tough on him, but Chad finally decided to put an ad on Craigslist.
And this is what his ad said: “My girlfriend does not like my beagle Molly. SO I have to rehome her. She is a purebred from a wealthy area and I have had her 4 years. She likes to play games. Not totally trained. Has long hair so she’s a little high maintenance, especially the nails, but she loves having them done. Stays up all night yapping but sleeps while I work. Only eats the best, most expensive food. Will NEVER greet you at the door after a long day or give you unconditional love when you’re down. Does not bite but she can be mean as hell! So… anyone interested in my 30-year-old, selfish, wicked, gold-digging girlfriend? Come and get her! Me and my dog want her re-homed ASAP!!”
The ad was viewed quite a bit. And this was just one of the comments left for Chad: “The dog should not be the one leaving. She’s your child not just a dog. The trauma you do to that baby is cruel and despicable. Girlfriends come and go but baby’s stay forever. I give you six months with the girlfriend. What are you going to feel like then about giving up your baby? It shows who will wear the pants in your life. If she can’t accept you and your baby you need to think twice before you continue a relationship with someone so cruel.”
