Group of retired friends set up ‘Old Coots’ booth at farmers market – what happens next is shocking.

A circle of friends who had known each other their whole lives would often gather at their usual meeting place, a coffee shop in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their meetings and story-sharing led them to a wonderful conclusion: they should share these tales with other individuals!

Tony Caputo, 69, one of the group’s members, saw something; a farmer’s market on the opposite side of the street with hundreds of participants!

He proposed to the group that they put up a stand there to offer people guidance. That was a hit with the other men. So, the next week, they put up a booth with a giant overhead banner that said, “Old Coots Giving Bad Advice.” “It’s probably bad advice, but it’s free.”

The guys were willing to answer inquiries on anything. They did, however, make two exceptions: religion and politics.

They waited there, waiting for someone to approach them for guidance.

Once a few individuals trickled in and had a positive experience, the news spread, and they had a long queue develop in front of their booth. People came to the “Old Coots,” as they were known, for counsel on a variety of matters. From school and job issues to relationships and love, and even what mobile phone or internet plans to acquire!

Thanks to everyone who visited us at the Farmers Market yesterday! We'll see you again next week!

The guys take their roles seriously and give their all in every response. Ton said that they always listen attentively and they never provide unnecessary advise.

The group of four or five guys gradually recognized they couldn’t adequately address questions asked by young ladies.

They mixed in some females to assist their female consumers and to draw more visitors to their booth as a consequence of the variety!

People came from all around to view the booth since it was so popular! This prompted the organization to create a Facebook page and, eventually, a podcast where people could call in with questions for their favorite ‘Old Coots.’ Who thought that a modest stall at a farmer’s market would result in an effective podcast for these old timers?

Our 1st episode will be available on Nov 8th, but we need your questions!! Send your questions to OldCootsGivingBadAdvice@Gmail.com or post them in the comments below.

“They know everything; it’s as easy as that!” said one fan.

“They are the smartest elderly coots you’ve ever sought guidance from,” said another.

Their popularity even earned them a spot on Good Morning America! With their honest personality and sincere guidance, the guys have definitely built a reputation for themselves!

Old Coots got word that the piece we shot in January for Good Morning America and bumped by Pres. Impeachment will air 3/2. Check your local listing.
