It’s amazing how a chain of events can change a person’s life. A woman named Bev was walking outside in Manchester, England one bitterly cold night and noticed a homeless man sleeping at a bus stop. So she did something very kind.
She walked into a sandwich shop next to that bus stop, handed the owner 15 pounds and asked that he give that homeless man breakfast for the next week.
The shop owner, Ciaran Egan, said he would. And then he posted about it on Facebook.
His post read: “Today we have had a lady come into our shop and asked if it would be OK to pay £15.00 on a tab so that the homeless man that she has seen sleeping at the bus stop on Broadway could eat for the rest of the week. Obviously we accepted this and will be making him full meals all week.
I don’t know this ladies full name only that’s she’s called bev. It touched my heart and thought she should have some recognition for her kindness. It doesn’t take much to help somebody when in need so we will be doing this at cost price so he gets more meals for the donation from bev.
Please can we share this post and get more people helping others that never ask for anything.”
Well that shop owner’s post, in less than 2 days, was shared more than 10,000 times.
The next day, Bev showed up at the shop again, and while they were talking about the homeless man, she realized she actually KNEW the family of the man, and that he was the brother of a former co-worker. She then was able to make contact with that former co-worker’s family, and soon they arrived, after driving a long distance, to pick up their long, lost family member.
So the shop owner wrote a followup to his original post, saying: “So happy to hear this outcome, what a way to start the day with such positivity. Well done to everyone involved, and everyone who has helped him out….
It just shows this world is a small place and we all need to look out for each other, no matter how big or small.”
