“I photographed this warrior recently and I think the world should know how brave she is.
The Sick Kids hospital in Toronto gives out bravery beads to children for them to collect. Each bead represents a procedure or event while visiting the hospital for treatment. What an amazing way to represent their unique and very, very special journey!
This sweet girl was diagnosed with a heart defect, Tetralogy of Fallot, at just 10 months of age. She has since had 10 catheterizations and 4 open heart surgeries. There are too many beads for her to count, but she just loved showing them all to me, and tried really hard to find her favorite bead in the overwhelming pile.
I often let children pose how they want for my sessions, so I was more than happy to see what she came up with for her special beads photo.”
