Kirstie Alley Dies At Age 71: ‘Our Incredible, Fierce, And Loving Mother Has Passed Away’

Kirstie Alley, who rose to prominence in both television and movies, has died after a secret battle with illness.

They are heartbroken to inform everyone that their wonderful, feisty, and beloved mom has died after a struggle with cancer that was just recently detected, her family said on Monday.

They went on- she was accompanied by her closest relatives and battled valiantly, leaving us with the confidence of her never-ending pleasure of life and whatever experiences lay ahead. As famous as she was on TV, she was an even better mother and grandmother. They are appreciative to the Moffitt Cancer Center’s amazing team of physicians and nurses for their care.

Their mother’s zeal and love for life, her kids, grandkids, and her numerous animals, not to forget her unending delight of creating, were incomparable and left all encouraged to live life to the fullest just as she did, her two kids stated in a statement.

It is unknown what form of cancer Alley was battling.

From 1987 through 1993, Alley was a household celebrity as Rebecca Howe on “Cheers,” a role that earned her an Emmy and a Golden Globe in 1991. She later won her second Emmy for her performance in “David’s Mother.”

Fans will also remember her as the lead in the 1980s picture “Look Who’s Talking,” as well as in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” “It Takes Two,” and many more films.

Her two children, William True and Lillie Price, survive her.

She was 71 years old.
