Little Girl Writes To God After Her Dog Passes Away. But The Reply She Got Is Gold.
Losing a beloved pet is terribly heartbreaking, but some can take comfort from a higher power, and here’s a story where a heart-broken little girl found quite a surprise on her front porch.
Little 4-year-old Meredith was so distraught over the passing of her dog, Abbey, that she asked her parents if she could write to God to make sure her dog made it safely to heaven.
So Meredith’s mom wrote the letter for her. She then put it in an envelope and addressed it to God in Heaven. She even put their return address on it, along with a few stamps, because Meredith insisted the letter would need a lot of stamps because heaven is quite a distance away.
For the next few days, the little girl asked her parents if God had received her letter. They could only tell her that they believed so. A few more days passed, and then… the family found a gold box on their front porch. It was addressed to Mer, and on the return address… was the name God.
Inside the box was the Mr. Rogers book “When a Pet Dies.” Also inside the box was the letter the family had sent to God, along with the picture of their dog Abbey that they included.
There was also a letter to Meredith. And It read:
Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having that picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send her my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find. I am wherever there is love.
The letter was signed… Love, God
It’s really nice to know that God has some outstanding angels who work at the post office.
