Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter performs a chilling homage to her late grandmother with Willie Nelson’s son.

Loretta Lynn’s passing has surely left a void in the hearts of many country music lovers. Of all, her family is probably grieving Lynn’s loss much more keenly than her admirers!

Her granddaughter has followed in her grandmother’s footsteps by pursuing a profession in country music, and her most recent homage to the late country star gave all goosebumps!

Emmy Russell followed in the footsteps of her grandmother and sought a career in music, which is not easy to achieve! So, when her grandma died, she paid respect to the remarkable woman who may have opened the path for her granddaughter’s profession as well.

Loretta Lynn’s recent celebration and homage was CMT’s Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration of Loretta Lynn’s Life and Music. It was broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House, a historic venue for many country musicians.

Before Emmy Russell entered the stage to perform a dedication to her late grandmother, she spoke briefly to the audience about what her grandmother meant to her. She always stood in the corner and summoned her on stage, she explained. She’d sing two songs, one original and one well-known.

It’s the first time she’s not here to gaze at her with her pleased eyes, she told the audience. It’s very unique.

She wasn’t singing alone; she was accompanied by Lukas Nelson. Since he is Willie Nelson’s son. Willie Nelson and Loretta Lynn are both country music legends who were close friends.

Despite their strong friendship, the two worked professionally together in 2016, performing “Lay Me Down,” a song from Lynn’s album Full Circle.

Of course, the duo sang the same song in honor of Lynn. Lukas Nelson and Emmy Russell had picked an apt song for her late grandma. The words of the song discuss living a long and satisfying life.

Russell and Nelson sang,“When they lay me down someday/ My soul will rise and fly away, The words of the song read, This ol’ world will turn around/ I’ll be at peace when they lay me down,” the lyrics of the song say.
