Michael Jordan celebrates 60th birthday by donating $10 million to Make-A-Wish foundation.

This year, Michael Jordan will donate $10 million to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in celebration of his 60th birthday.

His contribution will be the largest individual donation ever received by the charity, which fulfills the wishes of critically ill children.

Jordan said, he cannot think of a greater birthday present than for others to join him in helping Make-A-Wish so that every kid may experience the wonder of having a wish granted.

The basketball star said in a press release, over the last 34 years, it has been a pleasure to join with Make-A-Wish and help bring smiles and joy to so many children. Witnessing their fortitude and perseverance through such a difficult period in their lives has been extremely inspiring.

Jordan began working for the charity in 1989 and has fulfilled hundreds of wishes since then. He remains one of the most sought-after celebrities by Make-A-Wish.

In 2008, he was designated a Make-A-Wish Chief Wish Ambassador due to his life-altering effects on wish children and their families.

Leslie Motter, president and chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish, praised Jordan for his generous gift and expressed the organization’s hope that others would be motivated to give- Michael’s use of his birthday as an opportunity to create history for Make-A-Wish speaks to the caliber of his character and his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of kids with life-threatening diseases. They hope the public will be motivated to follow in his footsteps by granting wishes.

Jordan is one of several athletes that collaborate with Make-A-Wish to grant children’s wishes. John Cena, a WWE wrestler and actor, achieved the record for most wishes fulfilled in the last year.
