In Fulham, England, Lucy just loves living in her neighborhood, where she has been for more than 20 years. But one day, her longtime 76-year-old neighbor, called My Lady by Lucy, told her she was locked out of her apartment and asked Lucy if she could help her.
So Lucy climbed through an open window and she could not believe what she saw. The apartment was filthy and My Lady had been living in squalor because she could not clean it. And, aside from that, as Lucy found out, My Lady had not taken a bath in 13 years. 13 years.
Says Lucy: “There was no food, filthy clothes, nobody to help her bathe and just never-ending loneliness and despair. What I saw when she finally let me in will stay with me forever! It was horrific! NOBODY should live like that!” So Lucy began cleaning and disinfecting and cleaning some more.
My Lady needed new clothes and furniture. And she needed food. So Lucy posted on social media pleading for help. And, in no time at all, she had it. Complete strangers donated so much to help My Lady out. So things have changed greatly for My Lady, with the help of her neighbor and many strangers. And Lucy now makes sure that her good neighbor is taken care of as much as possible.
