Mom Writes Personal Messages To All Her Son’s Classmates On Pencils That Went Viral.

Teacher Amanda Cox noticed something. All of the pencils in her desk were starting to disappear because she kept loaning them to her students and they were not getting back to her. So she asked all of her students to get them back to her if they could.

One student asked if he could keep the pencils his mom gave him. Amanda said, “Of course.” Then the young boy decided to share them with his teacher anyway, so she could share them with his classmates. As Amanda was sharpening those pencils, she noticed there was writing on the sides of them.

It was special, personal writings from the boy’s mom. She wrote things like: “You are perfect” and “I am proud of you” and “This will be a great year.”

Amanda was amazed by this. A mother took the time to make a pencil very special for her son, with encouragement, and reminders of how she feels about him.

Says Amanda: “This probably took his mom a few minutes to do yet it lit up his whole day at school. He wasn’t embarrassed that his mom wrote on his pencils. Thanks to his mom, he was reminded of his self worth and wanted to share the same feeling with his classmates.”

She posted a photo of the pencils on Facebook and wrote about what had happened. It has been shared thousands of times.

Many of those who commented on it thought it was a brilliant idea, to which Amanda responded: “Imagine the look on a child’s face when they are reminded that they are important, talented, loved, knowledgeable and so much more…”

“This,” she said, “is why I teach.”
