Mother Was Hurt When No One Showed For Her Autistic Son’s Birthday Party.
When young Glenn woke up on his sixth birthday, he just couldn’t WAIT for all of his friends to come over later in the day for his birthday party to help him celebrate. His mom, Ashlee Buratti, of Kissimmee, Florida, had sent out a bunch of invitations to his friends’ parents…. but, strangely, no one had RSVP’d.
That worried Ashlee a little, but she was certain they just ran out of time to respond and would bring their children anyway. The house was all decorated, the food and goodies were set out and the big cake was ready to be lit. Unfortunately, Ashlee was wrong. She was very wrong. No one… not one single person… showed up to the little boy’s birthday party.
Little Glenn has epilepsy and a mild form of autism. Regardless of that, any 6-year-old boy would be hurt if his friends didn’t come to his birthday party. And Glenn WAS hurt. And so was his mom. She felt so bad for him.
Says Ashlee: “It’s probably one of the biggest hurts you can have, to see how let down your child is when nobody shows up for them.”
So Ashlee got on Facebook that night and vented. She was upset; had good reason to be. But after she posted about it, many people… strangers to the family… asked if they could come over the next day and celebrate with her little boy. Ashlee was a little skeptical… strangers, and all… but she agreed.
And the next day, 25 adults and 15 kids showed up to celebrate Glenn’s belated birthday. And even officers with the Sheriff’s Department showed up. They all brought presents…. like a brand new bike… They brought cameras… to take pictures of all the good moments at the party.
But most of all, they brought the biggest smiles to the face of a little boy they didn’t even know. And this birthday, as it turned out… was the best one of all.
