Mothers mourn children killed in Texas school shooting: ‘I lost a piece of my heart’

The moms of Rojelio Torres and Tess Mata, both 10-year-olds murdered in the Texas elementary school massacre, spoke of their grief.

Evadulia Orta, Rojelio’s mother, along with three other kids claimed two of her boys attend that school, but only one returned.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a shooter began firing at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, west of San Antonio, killing at least 19 students and two teachers. His mother characterized Rojelio as a “very brilliant and caring youngster.”

Orta added that she’ll miss him since he was her life. All of her children are her life, but she lost her son as she lost that small bit of her heart.

Many families were left waiting for word on whether or not their kids had withstood the shooting at a local civic center. Among them were Orta and Veronica Mata, the mother of Tess, a 10-year-old girl who was shot.

Jerry Mata, Tess’ father, was first at the school, wanting to get inside and find his little girl, but was stopped by police authorities. Law police gathered all of the families who still had missing kids in the municipal center and made them wait.

According to the family, many individuals were waiting in one large room for hours, restless and sobbing, prior to getting summoned up by police authorities and informed.

Orta stated that she waited for her child’s bus to the municipal center until the last bus arrived: “‘There’s a bus coming, there’s a last bus coming,’ they said. It never arrived.”

She investigated hospitals in Uvalde and San Antonio, but her kid was nowhere to be seen.

The Mata family is outraged that politicians have done nothing to stop similar shootings, and they claim they have received no details from cops regarding the inquiry of the crime.

The family describes their daughter Tess as a happy little girl who loved to dance and aspired to be TikTok famous.

Veronica Mata remarked, “She deserves to be recognized.” “Every time she danced, she placed a grin on everyone’s face. She always had the greatest grin. So I want her to be recognized as the wonderful young girl she was.”
