ODD COUPLE: Why Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson live together, decades after divorcing

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, are still living together decades after their divorce, and will soon be joined by Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis.

After her husband, Prince Philip, died in April, the Duke and Duchess of York presented the late queen with two of her favorite breeds of dogs in 2021.

Beyond this pleasant reality, however, is a far more unusual situation: the divorced couple still lives together, despite the fact that Fergie, as Ferguson is fondly called, has been forced to cope with the aftermath from Andrew’s civil sexual assault lawsuit.

Shannon Felton Spence, a former British public relations officer and royal specialist, stated that they still live together at Royal Lodge and Ferieg speaks glowingly about him. They are now joined by the queen’s corgis. She is always bragging about how she got the most attractive prince. They have remained in a very close friendship.

Fergie’s affection for her ex-husband may be due to the fact that the pair has always prioritized parenting their two kids together since their divorce in 1996: Princesses Eugenie, 32, and Beatrice, 34.

From 1986 to 1996, Ferguson, 62, was married to Andrew, the queen’s second son.

Spence added that by all accounts, the Yorks are a pretty close-knit family. A true unit. The Epstein affair would have been especially painful on his daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, who were just starting their own families. Throughout it all, she assumed the duchess’s major interests were her daughters and grandkids.

In 2021, a woman called Virginia Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Andrew, saying that he sexually molested her when she was under the age of 18 at the request of the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and notorious British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell.

In February 2022, a month before Andrew was scheduled to be deposed in the lawsuit, both parties confirmed a settlement deal.

Just a few weeks later, in March 2022, Andrew and Giuffre signed an agreement to formally drop the civil sexual assault case she filed against the prince after he reportedly paid more than $16 million to settle the humiliating litigation. While neither party disclosed the sum of the settlement in court records, the Daily Telegraph quoted it as $16.3 million.

Throughout the drama and scandal, Andrew maintained his denial of the claims, which eventually caused him to relinquish his official duties and royal patronages.

Likewise, a protester was detained on Monday in Edinburgh, Scotland, for heckling Andrew during the queen’s burial procession.
