Ron Howard never thought his marriage would work, but says ‘there was never anybody else’ for 51 years

Ron Howard may have traded being in front of the camera for an amazing career behind it, however the Hollywood superstar is still well recognised owing to his early start on “The Andy Griffith Show” at the age of 5, when he portrayed Opie.

Later, from 1974 until 1980, he played Richie Cunningham on TV’s “Happy Days,” as well as a prominent part in the coming-of-age film “American Graffiti.”

Yet, Ron says he’s always known that working behind the camera as a filmmaker was his true calling. He expressed that he was an actor who dreamed of being a filmmaker. So Ron did precisely that: he shifted his focus to behind the camera. He is now a well-known filmmaker and producer of films such as “Apollo 13,” “A Beautiful Mind,” “The Da Vinci Code,” and many others.

Furthermore, two of Ron’s girls, Bryce Dallas Howard and Paige Howard, have followed in their dad’s footsteps and established careers as Hollywood actors.

Yet, one part of Howard’s life that isn’t often discussed is his 46-year marriage to Cheryl Howard. Cheryl and Ron met many years ago. It’s been more than 50 years since their first date, and they’re still madly in love. Now he spills the beans on their amazing marriage.

The pair met at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, California, and have been together ever since. “I met her, and there was never anybody else,” the filmmaker said in an interview. He noted their “immediate connection,” and it’s evident that it hasn’t faded, since the pair is only a few years away from their 50th wedding anniversary. Let’s look at their adorable love tale.

Last year, Ron Howard disclosed on Instagram that his first date with his wife Cheryl Howard was on November 1, 1970. It went somewhat like this- they went to see Stanley Kramer’s It’s a Mad Mad Mad World, then had pizza at the now-defunct Barnone’s in Toluca Lake. Isn’t that a good start?”

The filmmaker went on to say that they’d be marking the 50th anniversary of their first date by driving to their favourite pizza shop “5 decades ago, he picked up Cheryl in the identical ’70 VW Bug.” What a wonderful memento of the moment! He sweetly added: “It works flawlessly. We feel the same way.”

Ron and Cheryl Howard, one of Hollywood’s most subtle long-term couples, have 4 kids together, including Bryce Dallas Howard, 40, twins Paige and Jocelyn Howard, 36, and son Reed Howard, 34. They currently have five grandchildren.

Ron has admired Cheryl’s consistent support for him throughout his remarkable career. He expressed that she’s always been really supportive. Their compatibility has withstood a variety of trials and tribulations.

This compatibility has also contributed to the couple’s 46th wedding anniversary, which they celebrated in June. Every year, Ron commemorates the couple’s wedding anniversary, and this year was no exception. Ron shared a gorgeous snapshot of them with two balloons spelling out “46” behind them, stating that they were celebrating discreetly but gloriously in Gold Coast, Australia, where he was taking a break from filming the next feature “Thirteen Lives.” He is a lucky fella was said by him at the end of his poignant message.

It’s no wonder that people are curious about how Ron and Cheryl managed to be married for 46 years and dating for 50 years. So what has been the key to such a durable and adoring marriage? As indicated by Ron Howard, it’s completely been about communication. Ron explained “People ask, ‘How did you do it?'” There is no method. “There is no strategy other than communication. You must learn to communicate and have unpleasant talks in productive ways,” Ron adds. “Aside from that, there’s an element of luck since individuals either develop together or they don’t, and I don’t believe you can force it.”

Despite the fact both Ron and Cheryl have had and continue to have extremely successful jobs, family will always come first. Seeing them together has inspired me to believe in true love. Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl make an adorable couple. We wish them the best of luck in the future and hope they have many happy years together in the future.
