Five years ago on this date, I discovered my partner was having an affair and I ended our 15 year relationship. I was alone in his country, a self-employed single mom having to start all over again. I was terrified, broken, and I couldn’t even go home to my family
Today, I got a call offering me the job of my dreams, at a salary far over what I would have dared negotiate for.
Although I lost my home and the life I moved to this country for, I have made my own new life, worked nights and weekends, built a network, made and nurtured good friendships, all while supporting my child, and now I finally feel like I can breathe out.
Maybe this is not a big story. But it’s my story and I’m feeling proud of it today.
