Students Raised Money To Give Their Janitor A Holiday.

Herman Gordon is from Jamaica. And for the last 10 years, he’s been a janitor at Bristol University in the United Kingdom. And in those 10 years, he’s become very close friends with many of the students at the university. They even considered him “one of the most loved members” of the staff. He’s always in a good mood.

Says one student: “Simply put, he is the epitome of happiness. All year round, this man works hours on end to provide us with a clean working space in which to study. But most importantly, his undying positive energy and chit-chat has managed to turn many students’ dark days into positive ones filled with joy.”

Herman was always a hard worker, and many of the students Knew that. So they decided it was high time he take a break from his work. And they began raising money for him for just that. And after a while, that money they were raising started adding up.

Finally, a group of students approached Herman and told him they wanted him to take a nice vacation with his wife back to his homeland of Jamaica. And they handed him an envelope.

When Herman opened it, he couldn’t believe his eyes. It was more than £2,000… £2,063 to be exact. Herman, the kind janitor, just broke down and started crying. He then hugged each one of the students there to give it to him.

He told them: “I want to thank every one of you and God bless every one of you.”

Herman's Trip to Jamaica!

We did it! All of you amazing people managed to help a group raise £1500 so that Herman and his wife can travel to Jamaica this summer. The creators of the Gofundme page said: "We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this incredible gift. It is truly amazing what we can achieve when we come together. It is thanks to your generosity that we’ve been able to raise about £1,500 – meaning both Herman and his wife will be able to visit Jamaica for the first time in 4 years!" We are so proud that our page managed to help this and we hope Herman has an amazing time. #WeAreBristruths
