Teacher Chops Off Her Own Hair To Support Her Student.

A little 5-year-old girl was being teased and harassed in her kindergarten class by kids who kept saying she looked like a boy because of her short haircut. Her teacher, Shannon Grimm, noticed that little Prisilla was being teased, and it was affecting her.

Says Shannon: “She was really sad and depressed at school because her friends think that she looks like a boy.”

And Prisilla admitted to crying because it hurt her so much. So Shannon decided to do something pretty drastic to make sure little Prisilla was no longer teased. The teacher cut her OWN hair very short.

Says Shannon: “I don’t want my students to ever feel like their confidence is down, that they don’t want to come to school because of the way people look at them and say things to them. I want them to come to school and love being at school.”

The teacher admitted that when she went to the grocery store or other public places, she felt very self-conscious about her short hair. But she also realized that it was worth every bit of it to help her student feel better about herself. And, she added, it always grows back.

When Shannon first walked into the classroom with her new haircut, most of the students were shocked. But one little girl walked up to her and gave her a big hug for doing it.

And if that doesn’t say it was completely worth it… then I don’t know what does.
