Missing toddler’s mom arrested, charged with murder.

Quinton Simon’s mom was arrested Monday for murder after authorities discovered the boy’s remains in a Savannah, Georgia, landfill on Friday, according to authorities.

Leilani Simon, 22, was arrested at the Chatham County Detention Center and will be kept there until her bond hearing, according to the Chatham County Police Department.

No more arrests are anticipated, according to cops, who announced the news on Facebook on Monday.

Simon reported Quinton missing on October 5, 2022, and she was considered the major suspect in his disappearance and death a few days later.

Numerous individuals have followed Quinton’s case and have been hoping for answers since that time, the police stated in a statement. They are very grieved by this situation, but they are grateful that they are one step closer to bringing Quinton’s death to justice.

According to court documents, Simon is accused with murder, hiding the death of another, and falsely claiming a crime.

Investigators, including FBI specialists, spent weeks scouring through the waste for the tiny boy’s bones, a procedure the police described as more torturous than anyone could have anticipated.

Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley stated during a news conference on Oct. 13 that they think Quinton’s remains were thrown in a particular trash at a specified place and transported to the Waste Management landfill by “normal ways.”

Diana McCarta, the toddler’s babysitter, previously said that she believed the youngster drowned by mistake in the family’s pool.

Last month, as detectives sifted through the city’s garbage, Simon’s mother, grandmother, and pals were photographed downing top-shelf tequila shots at Stingrays on Tybee Island.

They seemed like they didn’t have a care in the world, a server remarked. They were drinking Patrón shots and laughing loudly on the deck. It’s almost as if they were attempting to attract focus to themselves.

Authorities claimed Quinton was last seen inside the family’s Buckhalter Road house in Savannah, where he resided with his brothers, his mother, his mother’s boyfriend, and his maternal grandparents.

Simon declared her kid missing to police at 9:40 a.m. Billie Jo Howell, Simon’s grandmother, had custody of Quinton. Following Quinton’s abduction, Simon’s two other kids were placed in foster care.
