This Man Lost His Beloved Dog: In His Grief, He Died Of A Broken Heart 😥

In a variety of ways, our four-legged companions may provide us with comfort no matter what life throws at us. They may provide company, exercise, a sense of purpose, and even keep us going for the aged.

Ken Pendagraft, 80, said his dog of 14-years provided him with a purpose to get out every day and exercise him, as well as companionship and unconditional affection. When Ken was discovered sad with a sick dog, neighbours flocked to his aid.

What occurred next demonstrates how intertwined we are with our animals and how much we rely on them.

Ken and his 16-year-old dog Zack resided in a mobile home development in Hemet, California. According to his neighbours, he was cordial yet stayed to himself most of the time. That is, until Ken’s dog became really ill and he couldn’t afford to hurry him to the clinic.

Neighbour Carl Burt explained Ken was in tears since he did not know what he should do as he couldn’t afford to take him to the vet. Carol decided to share her neighbor’s situation on social media in the hopes that someone might be able to assist with the treatment of Ken’s adorable puppy. Elaine Seamans, the founder of the At-Choo Foundation, a rescue group that rescues dogs in need of medical treatment, responded to her call.

Zack was diagnosed with “glaucoma, severe arthritis, and a 6/6 heart murmur, making any operation impossible,” and Elaine tried everything she could to save him.

Unfortunately, Zack did not make it, and Elaine shared the following information on Facebook: “Prof. Zack’s loving papa was with him as his soul was released from his body that had stopped working for him. He is now feeling like a puppy again and doing all things happy and joyful.”

But, however, the tragedy does not end there. Ken’s letter was issued on behalf of the At-Choo Foundation, thanking all of his well-wishers who had given cards and words of sorrow, but stating that he was facing a “vacuum of loneliness.”

To each and everyone of you who took the time to reach out with kindness and compassion to Prof. Zack's dad in his time…
