“To The Mum Who Worries She Can’t Buy Her Child What Their Friends Have.”

Story by Jessica

On the tough days.

To the mom who walked into playgroup today and left without talking to anyone, despite wanting to.
I saw you there and I care that you’re ok. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who snapped at her kids today and then felt guilty.
We all have those days, let the mom guilt go. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who has just had a baby and has absolutely no clue on what she’s meant to be doing.
Nobody does, we are all making it up as we go along. Some days it works, some days it doesn’t.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who felt so exhausted today she doesn’t know how to keep going.
You’re doing it, you’re keeping on keeping on.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who feels like she didn’t play with her children much today.
You fed them, you cuddled them, you loved them. Those are the things they need the most.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who scrolled through social media today and saw other moms posting about their perfect life.
Those moms will have their tough days too they just don’t press publish on it.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who cried today because she felt lonely and isolated.
There are moms out there who feel exactly the same who are waiting to find a friend just like you.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who was late picking up her kids from school and felt guilty because everyone else was early.
It doesn’t matter. It happens. There will be another school day and another school run.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who worries she can’t buy her child what their friends have.
You’re showing your child what being rich in life really means, it’s about making memories not material things.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

To the mom who has little eyes looking up at them.
You’re their everything.

To the mom who has tiny fingers wrapped around theirs.
You’re their world.

To the mom who feels she’s not coping.
To your child you’re the strongest person they have ever seen.

On the tough days, see yourself through those eyes that look up to you and you will know you’re everything they need, just as you are.

Maybe if we weren’t all so hard on ourselves, things would feel that little bit easier?
