Uvalde police, school district no longer cooperating with Texas probe of shooting

Multiple law enforcement sources tell that the Uvalde Police Department and the Uvalde Independent School District police force are no longer cooperating with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s investigation into the Robb Elementary School shooting and the state’s evaluation of the law enforcement reply.

According to reports, the decision to cease helping came shortly after DPS Director Col. Steven McCraw conducted a press conference Friday in which he stated that the prolonged police entry into the classroom was “the incorrect judgment” and went against policy.

A representative for the Texas Department of Public Safety stated “The Uvalde Police Department and Uvalde CISD Police have been cooperating with investigators. The chief of the Uvalde CISD Police provided an initial interview but has not reacted to a suggestion for a follow-up interview with the Texas Rangers that was made two days ago.”

Last Tuesday’s incident, one of the worst school shootings in American history, killed 19 children and two adults.
