Before this past Memorial Day, Jordan Houghton and several others from the American Legion in Seattle spent countless hours cleaning up the headstones of fallen soldiers at Evergreen Washelli Cemetery.
Jordan, a veteran himself, worked hard to scrub decades of dirt and grime off the headstones, because he felt each veteran buried there deserved it, as well as their families.
Says Jordan: “A lot of people think it’s a long weekend. In reality, it’s about the sacrifices that families have made and those people from the families.”
