Dramatic footage has surfaced of a child who was kidnapped by a carjacker and discovered alone in a chilly car park.
Caraline Leon-Alcocar, three, was missing for over five hours after a robber leapt into her mom’s car in a grocery store parking lot and drove off with the little child still strapped in. After the automobile was discovered empty and abandoned, dozens of volunteers from Albuquerque, New Mexico, searched desperately for the small girl.
When she was discovered huddled outside in sub-zero conditions at 1 a.m, police officials had almost given up hope. In the footage, the small girl, who was discovered sitting on a curb dressed in her purple coat with a hood covering her head, can be heard constantly expressing her discomfort with the cold.
Officer Chris Poccia came across Caraline, who had been kidnapped from a grocery store parking lot at 8.30 p.m. the night before. Her mother was filling water jugs just a few steps away from the running car when a guy stepped in and drove away.
The empty automobile was discovered around 9.01 p.m., prompting authorities to suspect the abductor had dropped the youngster outdoors earlier.
The clip, which was captured on Officer Poccia’s lapel camera, shows the small girl being noticed, gathered up and enveloped with coats and covers to keep her warm.
The official explained that he was utilizing my spotlight, and noticed a ball of purple in the centre of a parking lot and thought it was unusual. And as soon as he pulled into the parking lot, he knew it was the little child. When he inquired whether she was all right, she stated she was chilly and weeping. He lifted her up, slid her into his car, and turned on the heat.
Despite being chilly, the girl was unharmed, and authorities are presently on the lookout for the carjacking culprit.
