You Won’t Believe How These Two Became Best Buddies
Do this fawn and bobcat seem like the unlikeliest of friends? They had good reason to bond, all those years ago.
The story goes that the two were rescued from the Jesusita fire that hit the hills of Santa Barbara, California in May 5, 2009. 8,733 acres burned, at an accumulated cost of $ 20 million.
At the time these photos were taken, the fawn was 3 days old and the bobcat, 3 weeks old. The fawn was rescued in the middle of a fire, and the bobcat was rescued in Carpintaria, near one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ranch homes. The bobcat was truly lucky, having been dehydrated and near death when it was found.
They were forced in the same room when rescuers ran out of room. The kitten ran to the fawn, and they instantly snuggled, perhaps taking comfort in each other’s company, in the midst of fear and the unknown.
Bobcats can hunt deer, but if these two are still alive today, I doubt that they’d be natural enemies, not after what they went through.
